Why I Volunteer at Warm Beach Camp
There are so many opportunities available if one wants to volunteer. But how does one decide whether an organization is a good fit with your skill set or life experiences and supports your reason for volunteering?
The first time I entered the grounds of Warm Beach Camp, I felt “at home and at peace”, it was as if I was meant to be here. I was drawn to several activities. The people who supported the programs welcomed me into the ministry and grounded me. I am a firm believer in the adage, if you enjoy the people around you, the effort you put forward is more satisfying. The ministry of Warm Beach Camp resonates with me, the staff and volunteers that I connect with make my effort more fulfilling.
After seven years, I am now a year-round volunteer for The Lights of Christmas program and spend the off season assisting in restoration and creation of new displays. It is rewarding to complete a display and then see it within the Event. Supporting the program year-round gives me access to other volunteers whose passion for volunteering mirrors my own and believe me, that joy is contagious! My pride overflows when sharing my activities with family and friends.
Each December, The Light of Christmas event brings me pure joy, through greeting guests, sharing their excitement in attending this magnificent lighting display and the spiritual message.
I know my contribution is valued and appreciated. I feel connected to the vision and am a part of the team. That is why I volunteer at Warm Beach Camp!
