Most positions are appropriate for teens and adults. Some positions have minimum age requirements due to safety or the responsibilities of the role. Any age requirements will be listed in the volunteer description. Some exceptions can be made and there are positions that can accommodate a younger child serving with a parent or responsible adult. Please contact us to discuss options.

Yes! Limited overnight housing is available for volunteers who travel from outside the local area. Housing is offered on a first-come, first-served basis and must be arranged in advance. Please contact our Volunteer Coordinator for availability and details.

We use Better Impact as our volunteer management system. Completing a short application helps us gather the information we need and gives you access to view and select available volunteer shifts that work best for your schedule.

No. If you have volunteered at The Lights of Christmas since 2023, you are already in our system. Simply log in to Better Impact and sign up for your preferred volunteer shifts. If you need help accessing your account, our Volunteer Coordinator will be happy to assist you.

Yes, we serve a hot dinner for all staff and volunteers. You will be given a 30-minute dinner break.

Most volunteer shifts are from 3:30 PM–10:00 PM unless otherwise noted in the role description. Some areas may adjust their end time based on guest needs and closing procedures. If you cannot be here by 3:30, please contact us. We may be able to work with you.

Yes! We have a variety of indoor and outdoor volunteer opportunities available. When signing up through Better Impact, you can review each position description to find a role that best fits your interests and comfort level.

Our Volunteer Coordinator will begin confirming shifts in September. You will receive a confirmation email once your requested shifts have been scheduled. Please wait for your confirmation before assuming that you are assigned to a shift.
